Coronavirus in South Africa: 南非疫情手记

作者: 程莹 (北京大学人文社会科学研究院) 一种 “中产病”? 在疫情向全球蔓延的初期,相对欧美地区而言,非洲各国是新冠疫情传播较缓的地区。二月初的时候,整个撒哈拉以南的非洲只有塞内加尔和南非两个国家能够检测新冠病毒。记得著名的南非籍脱口秀主持人 Trevor Noah 还曾在节目中开玩笑说,“看,非洲人民再一次被世界远远抛在了后面。”从报道第一例病例开始,南非的社交媒体上就充斥着有关新冠肺炎是个“中产阶级”病的各种段子:“虽然我们不知道那 些得了新冠肺炎的人是谁,但我们知道他们都去过欧洲度假”;“作为一个连护照都没有、甚至从没用过电子邮件的人,我第一次觉得自己和一种来自国外的流行靠得这么近”。的确,南非最初的确诊病例几乎都有欧洲旅行史,最早发现的几个病例来自同一个赴意大利的十人旅行团。【全文】
